But the planning most of that coverage assumes, a researched shortlist, a booked activity, a day carved out in advance, isn’t how it actually happens for a lot of travellers. More often it’s a client dinner that falls through, or a Sunday before a Monday flight home, a genuinely free block of time that wasn’t on the itinerary a week ago.
A leisure traveller with a week to plan has time to compare neighbourhoods, read reviews, and build a shortlist. A business traveller with one unplanned evening has none of that runway, and the usual advice, a list of twelve things to see, is worse than useless when what’s actually needed is one specific, easy decision. The real problem is too many options and not enough time to sort through them.
If the free time is an evening rather than a full day, the honest advice is to pick one neighbourhood and go deep rather than trying to cover the city in the hours available.
